REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br /> REGARDING: Communication No. 718/Bill No. 214 <br /> DATE: March 18, 2014 <br /> LOCATION: Council Chambers, Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TITLE: An Ordinance amending Section 25-8-33 (City of Hilo <br /> Zone Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the <br /> Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition), by changing <br /> the district classification from Multiple-Family Residential <br /> —2,500 square feet (RM-2.5) to Multiple-Family <br /> Residential— 1,500 square feet (RM-1.5) at Waiakea, South <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i, covered by Tax Map Key: 2-4-028:009. <br /> EXPLANATION: The area covers 3.292 acres. The applicant is Vincent T.C. <br /> Tai. The Windward Planning Commission forwards its <br /> favorable recommendation for the change of zone, to allow <br /> development of an 88-unit affordable housing project <br /> known as "Hualalai Court" on Hualalai Street in Hilo. <br /> During discussion, it was expressed and understood that an <br /> amendment to Bill No. 214 would be introduced at fist <br /> reading to incorporate conditions that were agreed upon <br /> between the developer, the Planning Department and <br /> members of the community. <br /> AMENDMENTS: Comm.
