REGARDING: Communication No. 718/Bill No. 214

TITLE: An Ordinance amending Section 25-8-33 (City of Hilo
Zone Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition), by changing
the district classification from Multiple-Family Residential
—2,500 square feet (RM-2.5) to Multiple-Family
Residential— 1,500 square feet (RM-1.5) at Waiakea, South
Hilo, Hawai`i, covered by Tax Map Key: 2-4-028:009.
EXPLANATION: The area covers 3.292 acres. The applicant is Vincent T.C.
Tai. The Windward Planning Commission forwards its
favorable recommendation for the change of zone, to allow
development of an 88-unit affordable housing project
known as "Hualalai Court" on Hualalai Street in Hilo.
During discussion, it was expressed and understood that an
amendment to Bill No. 214 would be introduced at fist
reading to incorporate conditions that were agreed upon
between the developer, the Planning Department and
members of the community.
AMENDMENTS: Comm. No. Introducer Approved/Disapproved
(none)
RECOMMENDATION: Passage of Bill No. 214 on first reading.
