RESOLUTION NO. 325 14

A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS,
HIGHWAYS DIVISION, TO REPAIR CERTAIN UNPAVED ROADS IN PUNA.
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works (DPW), Highways Division, is tasked with
maintaining county roadways across 4,028 miles of Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS, the Highways Division assists with certain unpaved Roads-In-Limbo (RIL),
which do not have regular maintenance schedules; and
WHEREAS, in the Hawai`i County,there are 408.9 miles of RIL and 122.6 miles of
existing roads recognized as government or unpaved homestead roads; and
WHEREAS, unpaved roads in lower Puna such as Wa'a Wa'a and Government Beach
Road are in need of restoration; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
DPW, Highways Division, to purchase 200 tons of aggregate material to repair unpaved roads in
the Puna District; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Public Works and the Director of Finance and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
