SUBJECT: Proposed Amendment to Resolution No. 354-14; A Resolution
Transferring/Appropriating an Appropriation Out and From the Designated Fund
Account and Crediting Same to a Designated Fund Account to Provide a Grant to
`O Ka`u Kakou for the Na`alehu 4th of July Activities
Please find attached a proposed amendment to Resolution No. 354-14. The amendment is
illustrated below via Ramseyer format(material to be deleted is bracketed and stricken, material to
be added is underscored; all bolded for emphasis only).
The enacting clause of Resolution No. 354-14 is amended to read as follows:
"BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO `O KA`U KAKOU FOR
THE NA'ALEHU 4Tli OF JULY ACTIVITIES.
WHEREAS, `O Ka`u Kakou is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization supporting community
activities in the district of Kali; and
WHEREAS, `O Ka`u Kakou will plan, promote and implement the 4th of July Parade
and activities in Na`alehu; and
WHEREAS, `O Ka`u Kakou provides children's activities on the 4th of July including: a
water slide, rock wall climb, bouncing castle, a bouncing train, free hot dogs, watermelon, and
shave ice in Na`alehu Park; and
WHEREAS, `O Ka`u Kakou provides games and lunches for the seniors; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the
grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to `O Ka`u Kakou for the Na`alehu 4th
of July Activities; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
