COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO. 362 14
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL
YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A MULTI-YEAR
AGREEMENT FOR THE PUCHASE OF SOFTWARE AND LICENSING FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLGY
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease
or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal
year or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Information and Technology is in the process of
replacing the majority of computers used by County employees because they utilize
legacy operating systems which are obsolete and no longer supported by Microsoft
Corporation; and
WHEREAS, the replacement computers will utilize Microsoft Office 2013 as their
primary desktop application; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to enter into a multi-year agreement to
purchase this software and the associated license agreements for the replacement
computers indicated above; and
WHEREAS,by purchasing this software and licensing by way of the three (3) year
Microsoft Enterprise Agreement, the County will realize a significant savings in software
costs, plus additional, future savings when newer versions of this software will be made
available at no additional cost during the life of the Enterprise Agreement; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a multi-year
agreement for the purchase of Microsoft Office 2013 software and
associated license agreements, to allow the Department of Information
Technology to incorporate this desktop application into new computers
for the County, which will replace those which currently use obsolete
operating systems.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the
anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, Department of
Information Technology, and the Finance Department.
