Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Bill No. 225,
reports as follows:
Bill No. 225 transmitted by Council Member Zendo Kern, via Communication No. 766 dated
February 27, 2014, amends the Hawai`i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 11, Division 1, Section
24-299, to add all streets in the Fern Acres Subdivision to Schedule 3 (20 mile per hour limit),
Subsection (g), Puna.
The purpose of this ordinance is to establish speed limits in the Fern Acres Subdivision so that speed
limits can be properly enforced by the police.
Committee Members Zendo Kern and Valerie Poindexter spoke in support of this measure.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Bill No. 225 and recommends its passage on first reading.
