A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE
ZOO FOR THE PURCHASE OF KIDDIE CARTS FOR THE PANA`EWA
RAINFOREST ZOO AND GARDENS.
WHEREAS, Friends of the Zoo is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that assists the
Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens with new animals,exhibits, animal enrichment, j
community events, and education; and

WHEREAS, Friends of the Zoo also runs the gift shop that provides kiddie cart rentals to i
the public; and
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Zoo is in need of funding to purchase new kiddie carts to

be used at the Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens, which will replace the old ones that are
well-used and are ready to be retired; and
i
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency i
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the
grant shall be used; and
i
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recration to provide a grant to Friends of the Zoo for the purchase
of kiddie carts for the Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
