(See attached Viewpoint sent to WHT & HTH.) This remand presents a great opportunity for the council and the public to review and amend the Yamashiro zoning code, which was illegally adopted by the '96 Council, six of nine of whose members were leaving office. However, Planning Committee chair Leithead -Todd is planning a thirty three (33) day high speed approval process that will greatly diminish the opportunity to review and remedy undesirable parts of this illegally adopted zoning code. Do you agree that our goal should be to seek comprehensive review by the council and adequate public input rather than a rubber stamp ratification? If you believe as I do that this is a great opportunity for the council and the public to understand and amend the zoning code, please circulate this information. Also, let your councilperson know you want a comprehensive review, not a hasty re- adoption of Bill 250 Tell them that when it comes to the Hawaii County zoning code, thirty three days in the sunshine isn't enough time to make up for eight months in the dark, My e -mail address is ; ,,rc ko <,c,. Mayor Yamashiro's attempt to subject SMA permits to "automatic approval" was killed by the AG's office. So to we killed (via the Planning Commission and the state CZM office) his earlier attempt to decimate the SMA by a boundary amendment that would have reduced the SMA by 95 %. Comm. No. D D' D 1 .
