SUBJECT: HAWAII COUNTY ZONING CODE
Dear Council Chairman Arakaki:
Please relay to your fellow council members:
I strongly feel that the existing zoning code should be approved and validated as soon as
possible. Our economy is in a slump and we must all do our share in trying to get it restarted.
Delays or indecisions sends the wrong message to not only us on the Big Island but people trying
to do business on our island.
From my understanding the zoning code was passed in 1996 and there are provisions for code
revisions, so why are we delaying the adoptance of the bill. Adopt the bill and then make
changes if necessary.
The public should not be penalized for "following the rules ", we have a right to a straight
forward, expeditious approval. I am opposed to any political grandstanding. We need action,
today, our economy needs your full attention.
Please, kokua and pass and validate the existing code as soon as possible.
