Subject: Support for Resolution No. 332-14

I'd like to declare my enthusiastic support for Resolution No.-332-14 to Purchase TMK 3-5-5-15-
42, Banyan Trees Area, Hawi, with 2% Open.Space Funds.
The Banyan Trees area is a remarkable open space in the middle of Hawi. It's been an informal
park for more than 50 years. It has served the North Kohala Farmer's Market, the Kohala
Country Fair and myriad other functions of value to our community for a long time. We had our
dogs trained at classes there, bought fruits and vegetables, and organized meetings of North
Kohala CERT and Sustainable Kohala in the open space. Parks are good for residents and local
businesses, and attract visitors and'residents for recreation. It would be a shame to encroach
upon this area with a private residence. Please vote in favor of this resolution. Thank you.
