COUNTY OF HAWAII -_ STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 403 14 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HUI OKINAWA FOR <br /> THE 2014 HAARI BOAT FESTIVAL. <br /> WHEREAS, Hui Okinawa is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes Okinawan <br /> cultural awareness and education; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hui Okinawa's Haari Boat Festival is an highly anticipated tradition, held <br /> during the even-numbered years in Hilo, which has become a nationally and internationally <br /> recognized tourist venue; and <br /> WHEREAS, this event draws participation from within the Big Island community and <br /> the neighbor islands, as well as national and international participation, making Hilo a <br /> destination spot; and <br /> WHEREAS, two of the Department Research and Development's goals are to promote <br /> tourism and cultural activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency <br /> Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution <br /> identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the <br /> grant shall be used; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to <br /> the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Hui Okinawa for the 2014 <br /> Haari Boat Festival; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $4,500 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC - Contingency Relief $4,500 <br />
