Re: Agreement with the U.S. Department of the Interior,National Parks Service
The Hawaii Fire Department works collaboratively with the United States Department of the
Interior, National Parks Service to provide paramedic ambulance services to the staff, visitors, and
to the surrounding community of Volcanoes National Park on Hawaii Island. They wish to enter
into a cooperative agreement to identify the terms and conditions of their collaboration and to
provide clarification of each jurisdiction's responsibilities.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the United States
Department of the Interior, National Parks Service to provide the services outlined above.

A. REQUEST:
Please prepare a resolution to authorize the County of Hawaii, Fire Department to enter into a Cooperative
Agreement with the United State Department of Interior, National Parks Service.
B BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED).
The objective of this agreement is to provide Paramedic Ambulance Service through the Hawaii County Fire
Department and provide 24/7 paramedic ambulance service to park staff, visitors and the surrounding
community.
