Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Department of Public Works to enter into a four-year,
multi-year lease, for premises located at the North side of the West Hawaii Traffic Facility. The
Department of Public Works, Traffic Division indicates that this site is needed for parking and
storage.
The Traffic Division is currently leasing the above property for two years, from August 1, 2012
and ending on July 31, 2014. This new lease will provide an additional four years of needed
parking and storage at the West Hawaii Traffic Facility.

A. REQUEST:
Please prepare a resolution for DPW-Traffic Division to enter into a multi-year lease agreement for an
additional four (4) years at a cost of$600.00 per month commencing on August 1, 2014 and ending on
July 31, 2018, with the option to rent thereafter on a month to month basis for the purpose of leasing
parking and storage space on the North side of the West Hawai'i Traffic Facility location at 81-6394
Mamalahoa Highway Kona, Hawaii, identified as Tax Map Key: (3) 8-1-016:039 (por) and the use of a
40 foot storage container located on site.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Traffic Division is currently leasing the above named property for two (2) years, commencing on
August 1, 2012, and ending on July 31, 2014. The DPW-Traffic Division is in continued need of
additional space to park vehicles, containers, and for storing materials outside. There is currently
limited parking, no space for storing signal poles and mast arms. Additional parking is needed for West
Hawai'i facility personnel and this location area also has a 40 foot container for thermoplastic materials
storage. DPW—Traffic has budgeted accordingly for fiscal year 2014-2015 and beyond for the annual
amount of$7,200 in 020.281.5281.42.338 - Parking & Storage Rental.
