James Y. Arakaki
Council Chair
County of Hawaii
25 Aupuni Street
Hilo. Hawaii 96720
Dear Chair Arakaki:
The Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce supports the passage of Bill 250, Drafts 4 and 9. The zoning
ordinance has been law since its passage in 1996. If anyone from the public or the new County Council
wants to propose changes, there is a process to follow for code revisions. Anyone desiring to propose
changes can employ those mechanisms.
Our real estate industry finally appears to be recovering from its depressed state after nine years in the
doldrums. The one thing that we do not need at this time is any uncertainty in the zoning process. We
have seen the beginning of investment dollars flowing into our economy. We all need this investment in
our comm r: es.
Please .ass B 1250 as soon as possible. Thank -you for your consideration of our position.
