RESOLUTION NO. 415 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIMEA
HAWAIIAN HOMESTEADERS' ASSOCIATION INC. FOR OUTREACH EFFORTS
FOR THE WAIMEA COMMUNITY AGRICULTURE PARK.
WHEREAS, the Waimea Hawaiian Homesteaders' Association Inc. is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization, and one of its projects is the Waimea Community Agriculture Park; and
WHEREAS, the Waimea Community Agriculture Park will consist of 246 parcels for
lease to beginner farmers with each parcel being 5,000 sq. ft. or less, which will not only be
available to lessees of Homestead Land, but to all members of the greater Waimea community;
and
WHEREAS, printing of pamphlets and other outreach efforts is essential to educate the
Waimea residents about this community-wide agricultural program; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the
grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Waimea Hawaiian
Homesteaders' Association Inc. for outreach efforts for the Waimea Community Agriculture
Park; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
