RESOLUTION NO. 41G 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KAHILU
THEATRE FOUNDATION TO SHOWCASE FILMS/MOVIES AT THE KAHILU
THEATRE.
WHEREAS, the Kahilu Theatre Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
oversees the Kahilu Theatre; and
WHEREAS, for six months the Kahilu Theatre will showcase seven films/movies
beginning in July 2014 through January 2015; and
WHEREAS, Kahilu Theatre will coordinate the film/movie selections with the District 9
Council Office to showcase a variety of entertaining and educational topics focusing on health
and wellness issues; and
WHEREAS, when appropriate, there will be an opportunity for a short discussion about
issues raised in the film/movie following the show; and
WHEREAS, Kahilu Theatre will partner with local organizations and schools to help
market this free offering to attract as many attendees as possible; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the
grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Kahilu Theatre
Foundation to showcase seven films/movies for children and adults at the Kahilu Theatre; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
