COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
Re: Comm. No. 807/Res. No. 377-14
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 377-14, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 377-14, transmitted by Senior Deputy Corporation Counsel Joseph K. Kamelamela, via
Communication No. 807 dated April 2, 2014, authorizes the acquisition of private property by eminent
domain, being a portion of Tax Map Key: 2-3-009:027, situated at Ponahawai, District of South Hilo,
Island and County and State of Hawaii, being Lot 22-C of the "Hilo Town Lots" for the construction of
a sewer line.
The resolution authorizes the acquisition of Easement "S-1" (approximately 834 square feet) to
construct, operate, and maintain an underground sewer line within Lot 22-C that would connect to the
County's sewer system.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Pursuant to Section 101-13, the Hawaii Revised Statutes requires that a condemnation action by the
County of Hawaii must be authorized by a resolution of the County Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 377-14, and
recommends its adoption.
