No. 390-14 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 390-14, reports as follows: Resolution No. 390-14, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 827 dated April 14, 2014, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the United States Department of the Interior, National Park Service, pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes 46-7, to provide for paramedic ambulance service to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. A cooperative agreement between the Hawaii Fire Department and the State would identify each jurisdiction's responsibilities in providing the above services to the staff, visitors, and surrounding community of Volcanoes National Park. Fire Chief Darren Rosario appeared before Your Committee for questions. He informed the Council that the Memorandums of Agreement are renewal agreements. Chief Rosario expressed his gratitude to the partnering agencies for their help in providing services to the community. Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers.
