Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Bill No. 240,
reports as follows:
Bill No. 240 transmitted by Council Member Zendo Kern, via Communication No. 820 dated
April 8, 2014, amends Chapter 24, Article 11, Division 1, Section 24-300 of the Hawaii County Code
1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), by adding certain streets in the Fern Acres Subdivision to Schedule 4
(25 mile per hour limit), Subsection (g), Puna.
The purpose of this measure is to establish speed limits in the Fern Acres Subdivision so that speed
limits can be properly enforced by the police.
Committee Member Zendo Kern stated that amendment to this Traffic Schedule is in conjunction with
the other speed limits already established in the Fern Acres Subdivision and asked the Committee for
support.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Bill No. 240 and recommends its passage on first reading.
