ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, DIVISION 1, SECTION 24-255
OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO
SPEED LIMITS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. These amendments are being proposed in an effort to lower the speed limit
to 25 mph and increase safety through a portion of Kealakekua.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 1, Section 24-255, Schedule 3. 25 mile
per hour limit, subsection (f), Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended),
be amended by revising existing item:
(8) [Mdmal„i,e Highway] HAWAII BELT ROAD (HIGHWAY 11), from the terminus
of the State Highway in Honalo to a point five thousand one hundred feet in the southerly
direction.
SECTION 3. Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 1, Section 24-255, Schedule 3. 25 mile per hour
limit, subsection(f), Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), be amended by
adding new item and renumbering as required:
O HAWAII BELT ROAD (HIGHWAY 11), FROM A POINT TWO HUNDRED
THIRTY-FIVE FEET NORTH OF HAUKAPILA STREET TO A POINT ONE
THOUSAND FEET SOUTH OF HALE KEEKEE PLACE.
SECTION 4. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is underscored.
In printing this ordinance, the brackets,bracketed and stricken material and underscoring need not be
included.
SECTION 5. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to
any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end,
the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
