Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation is providing $100,000 to the County of
Hawaii to support its Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program. The SRTS program's goal is to
improve the ability of children to walk or bicycle safely to school.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii
Department Transportation for this grant. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the
Operating Budget by appropriating this $100,000 grant to the Safe Routes to School program
account.
Please waive this resolution and bill from the Finance Committee and place them on the June 4,
2014 Council Agenda so that the funds may be accepted during the current fiscal year. If there are
any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Warren Lee, Director of Public Works, at 961-
8321.
