Re: Operating Budget
The State Department of Health, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division, is providing an additional
$2,900 to the Hawaii County Police Department's Department of Health—Tobacco Sting
program. The grant funds will be used to support the Hawaii County Police Department's
efforts to prevent the sale of tobacco to minors. In the current fiscal year's budget, $8,000 is
appropriated for this grant.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the
additional funds into the Police Department's Department of Health—Tobacco Sting program
account, and bringing the total grant appropriation to $10,900.
The Police Department requests that this resolution be waived from the Finance Committee, and
be placed on the June 4, 2014 Council agenda in order to complete this transaction during the
current fiscal year. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Lieutenant Lucille
Melemai of the Police Department at 961-2254.
