+`Y OF h�j COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAII 7r�OF•N►'� RESOLUTION NO. 443 14 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE HAWAII STATE ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE SLATE, AND APPROVING THE NOMINATION OF MEMBERS FOR THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND THE WESTERN INTERSTATE REGION BOARD OF DIRECTORS. WHEREAS, Hawaii County is a member of the Hawaii State Association of Counties (HSAC), the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the Western Interstate Region (WIR); and WHEREAS, the HSAC Executive Committee on May 15, 2014, approved a slate of executive committee members and nominees for the NACo Board of Directors and the WIR Board of Directors for the respective terms beginning July 1, 2014; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the HSAC bylaws, prior to the HSAC annual meeting on June 13, 2014, "each council after receipt of the slate shall take the action deemed necessary to approve the slate at the annual meeting; provided that no council shall take any action requesting or requiring removal from the slate of an appointee from another council"; and WHEREAS, HSAC bylaws state that Council approval is required to approve the nomination of representatives to the NACo Board of Directors and the WIR Board of Directors; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the HSAC executive committee members and alternates are approved as follows for the term beginning July 1, 2014: President: Mel Rapozo; alternate Ross Kagawa Vice President: Dennis "Fresh" Onishi; alternate Dru Mamo Kanuha Secretary: Honolulu City Council Chair or the Council Chair's Representative, pursuant to Section 5(1) of the HSAC bylaws Treasurer: Michael P. Victorino; alternate G. Riki Hokama BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Michael P. Victorino and Mel Rapozo are approved to serve on the NACo Board of Directors for the term beginning July 1, 2014. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Dennis "Fresh" Onishi and Mike White are approved to serve on the Western Interstate Region Board of Directors for the term beginning July 1, 2014.
