Dear Chair Arakaki:
I am a commercial Broker and Property Mangcr in Kailua Kona. Over the last two years, our business
climate has improved, although it is far from being healthy.
The current community standards were adopted by the Council in 1996 and enacted into law. The
community has been following these standards, so you are not only impacting developers, but individuals
truing to build their first house or open their first business.
To lengthen this process will only further the uncertainty of living and doing business in Hawaii.
The appropriate way to proceed is to enact this code into law and if there are any problems with the code,
work through the process and make the appropriate changes, with appropriate community input.
