Re: Bill 250, draft 9 and draft 4, HAWAII COUNTY ZONING CODE
Amendments to Chapter 25 of the Hawaii County Code
The Big Island Business Council supports the passage of the amendments noted above.
Timely approval and validation of the existing zoning code is critical to the economic - .
health and stability of our island. We cannot afford the burden of delays, uncertainty and
disruption in our government structure.
There has been no objection during the previous two years of its existence, to the code
that has been in effect with the amendments. It seems that if there were major revisions
needed, it would have come up prior to the judge's recent ruling.
We regret that a process was not followed, according to a judge, but we encourage you to
take the action of a responsible government body and pass the zoning code that is now in
existence. It can be amended later if any provision is found to be inappropriate.
