Dear Chairman Arakaki and Members:
Hawaii County Zoning Code
The Planning Commission at its February 19, 1999, meeting voted to encourage the Hawaii
County Council to ratify the 1996 Zoning Code, as is, as soon as possible, and at a future date
amend the Code as needed. Not ratifying the 1996 Zoning Code intact could have major
ramifications on previously approved and issued permits and ordinances. We agree that the
1996 Zoning Code needs revisions, but amendments can be reviewed separately at a future
date.
