The zoning code has been law and in existence for over two years. During this time there were no apparent challenges to the Code according to former Councilman John Ray, a President councilman during that time. Helene H. Tajiri, R,GRI,CRS The Board of REALTORS® would like to reaffirm support of Bill 250 and strongly urges President - Elect the County Council to pass and validate the existing code as soon as possible to avoid the Christopher Brilhante, R,GRI burden of additional delays, uncertainty, and disruption. If anyone wants to propose changes Vice President there is a process to follow for code revisions and these mechanisms can be implemented after Joel K. La Pinta, R, GRI, CCIM approval of the existing code. Secretary Heather E. Hedenschau, R, GRI We understand that the previous zoning code was enacted in 1967, thirty-two years ago and the County Council (2 Councils prior) should be commended for taking on this very large task Treasurer of updating the zoning code. The zoning code is extremely complex and we realize that, as Adele Eggel, R, CRS lay people, we may be unable to understand all the intricacies of the code and defer to our Immediate Past President representatives to make the best decisions for the good of the general public. Edith Crabb R, GRI, CRS 1 The Code went through nine drafts because of its complexities and took a long time to be finalized. My understanding is that the Council (2 Councils prior) wanted to pass it before Directors: the "new" Council came on board otherwise the Code would need to be re- visited again with Joanne V Baptiste, RA Ricardo Barbati,R,GRI, CRS new people. The concern now is the process, NOT the content. The Code went through 9 Mary R Begier, R, CRS drafts, so to now suggest that we "take our time" does not make sense. Priscilla M. Garson, R Lamy Hull, R As REALTORS® we represent a multitude of clients. Our mission statement reads, ... "to Kelly H. Moran, R, GRI, CCIM advocate and preserve the fundamental right to own, transfer and use real property and to Gary L. Rothfus, RA promote the enjoyment of these rights by more people." Executive Officer Timely approval and validation of the existing Zoning Code is critical to the economic health Delene K. Osorio and stability of our island, especially in an already struggling economy. The majority of Executive Assistant people who are adversely affected by delay and, even worse, revisions to the Code are Lovelyn A. Boranian individuals (individual property rezonings) and small business persons (Bed and Breakfast), a' not the "developer community." We strongly urge the Council to pass and validate the existing code as soon as possible.
