Date .t' Aloha, my name is Kalei and after s000 many years of keeping silent, I am here today to voice my thoughts of PGV on my own behalf. I am '/z Hawaiian and had been a homeowner and resident of Leilani Estates for (9) years (1996-2005). Our property was a 1/2 mile outside of PGV's Property Boundary. Nearby residents who's children played and attended the same Pahoa Schools as mine had parents who complained (and still today) of health issues. I had never visibly seen such issues on the kids or their parents. While living in Leilani, I had (2) more daughters now 11 & 15 who have also attended Pahoa Montissory, Pahoa Elementary and currently Pahoa High & Intermediate and have never suffered or received any kind of ill affects caused by PGV. I also had family that owned and lived within PGV's Property Boundary and they too did not receive any health problems caused by PGV. In 1997, I attended my ft Testimony Hearing— Residents against PGV and was amazed at some of the testimonies I heard. Today, (15) years later, I'm seeing the same faces (w/some new ones) and the same complaints. Myself and my family have never experienced any skin, eyes, nose, throat, head and/or respiratory problems. Safety of the employees, nearby residents and notifications to the residents (in Public Notifications as well as mailed notifications) is a priority for PGV. PGV also provides daily updates on plant activities via the PGV information line. I have not heard of any PGV employees receiving the same illnesses that the residents say is caused by PGV and why is that? What makes the employees different from the residents with these complaints? Fire in 1998 Reminder, donations, contributions In closing, I would like to say this: I AM HEALTHY, HAPPY and PROUD!!!! To be a an employee for almost 22 years with PGV. Also note, there have been no re-corded illnesses among PGV employees.
