Re: Bill No. 253, Draft 2; an Ordinance to Initiate an Amendment to Article III,
Section 3-6 of the Hawai`i County Charter (2012 Edition), Relating to the Term
of Appointment for the County Clerk
Attached please find Bill No. 253, Draft 2, which incorporates those amendments contained in
Communication No. 876.3, as duly approved by the Council on July 2, 2014.
A verbal amendment was also approved to remove the amendment in Communication No. 876.3
which would have changed "two-thirds vote"to "majority vote" in Section 3-6(b).
Due to the time constraints for a charter amendment, the Council suspended Rule No. 24(1)(e) of
the Rules of Procedure and Organization of the Council of the County of Hawai`i, relating to the
holdover of amended legislation on final reading.
Bill No. 253,as amended to Draft 2, passed third and final reading.
