Although many support the program, some do have reservations. Please take note of their concerns. Two pages are attached with eleven signatures. Also attached are five letters. The format appears similar because I assisted the residents by making various choices available to them. They had the opportunity to add any other concerns in their own words. All reviewed their letters before signing them. The main difference in the letters is the use of helicopters and aerial spraying. May I add, that many times people ask questions about the program, which I cannot answer. I do not know all the details of the program as there are several agencies involved. Most people think of the marijuana eradication program as only helicopters and aerial spraying. Providing information to the public may alleviate some of their fears and misconceptions. Thank you. I want limited funds to be used for field activities involving the helicopters, but please no aerial spraying. We are an agricultural community and have water catchment systems and crops that can be contaminated by aerial spraying of herbicides. Please use most of the funding for educational and prevention programs, to include counseling, therapy, and various alternatives. We must target the youth and prisoners to reduce drug abuse. Please direct the funds in the best manner to promote a safe community. I support the marijuana eradication program. Marijuana is unhealthy for the youth and could lead to other more serious types of drug use. I have seen marijuana being used in public by adults and youths. Please continue drug education. I also want more alternatives for the youth so we can keep them away from temptation. I want my children to grow up in an environment as free as possible from the influences of marijuana. A reduction in marijuana will lead to a reduction in violence. Marijuana patches are a danger to hikers, hunters, plant gatherers, and neighbors of growing areas who may stumble across the patches and growers. I want funding to enhance substance abuse treatment centers. I think in -jail therapy programs for prisoners would help them to develop coping skills and insights into their drug abuse. If it is necessary to conduct aerial spraying, it should be in accordance with strict federal guidelines. Helicopters should maintain a minimum distance from residences, to reduce resident concerns of physical safety and peace of mind. Thank you for your consideration. The ethical and moral aspects of life should have been part of the socialization process, dealt with in the family unit. With the lacking in the family unit, how can the code of ethics and standards of morality be presented to the young people?
