To all Hawaii County Council members: -c,
j' :3
I read in the paper today of the possible abandoning of the Alii Highway n
project
N
As a rural resident of south Kona I deplore the lack of good planning that
has
plagued Kona in the past and I appreciate the efforts of current the council
to try
to do good planning, but stopping a desperately needed traffic artery is a
big step
in the wrong direction.
I drive into Kona from the south every day (for 20 years). For a long time
now there has
been a traffic congestion nightmare between Lako street and Kam 3. Wdh
Oceanside 1250
now starting construction this area will go into GRIDLOCK. Major traffic
Flow will be forced
onto Alii Drive to get around this mess. And this will only get worse over
time.
The people opposing the Alii Highway have many valid concerns. Try to
address their
concerns, and slow the project down 'rf you must, but please, DO NOT STOP
THIS PROJECT.
An organized and wcal group can create a strong impression at a meeting but
that should
be offset by good planning and rational consideration for ALL of the
residents and drivers
in Kona, not just that group.
Thank you for your consideration.
