Dear Councilman:
This fax is to inform you that as property owners in Kailua -Kona, on Alii Drive, we fully
support the Alii Highway Project and request your assistance in making It a reality.
Contrary to the dismal hearing turnout and opposition presented there, and subsequent
newspaper reports, we believe a majority of the population want this protect to be
completed. This project is a capacity and SAFETY issue. As you well know Alii Drive is
narrow and congested with commuter traffic and even horse drawn carriages (to permit
that was really a brilliant idea), walkers, joggers, hikers, and lacks adequate parking for
the residents, workers, and beaches. It is also a school bus route that put children in
danger every day. This condition exists now, and it does not take much vision to
determine what will happen if the project is not completed soon. It is more disturbing to
think that our "planners" would even consider off loading even more traffic onto AN

Drive by connecting additional roads to it. Such reasoning borders on insanity. The Alii
Highway project would also relieve commuter traffic congestion on Kuaklnl Highway.
