AN Highway plan
 a patting, wasteful
V"VWd at the Inti4htW 0`"
the Hawaii Count} Planning
Commission to build the so- called
Alit Highway project, in Kailua -
Koala.
This project is at Est a colossal
waste, and at worst, Enodw gov-
ernment scam desiemcd to steal
money from the cltizena and to
funnel it into the hszncic of special
interest grasps. lihintetdy, some
of this money will find its way
back inw the pocEeLs of those who
would approve of this project.
Kailua -Kona presently suffers
from poor planning in the past, the
remedy of which is not to continue
to plan poorly in the prescnt.
Whet 4 immediately needed are
connector roads from the subdivi-
sions just below Yuakini Highway,
to Aiii Drive.
An example of this would be a
connector road from Seaview
because my family and I have been
part -time residents in Kailua -Kona
for nearly 20 years.
It also should be recommended
that Kualdni H ighway be widened
(I recall that a email pr)rtion of that
kgttway near Seavis4 Circk was
widened a few years ago, to install
a }eft -turn lane, and h took over a
yor to CoWletc — tlils may have
tAen silt mocks to one month to
complete on the ma;nlnnd).
Much of Kailua -Krma has
already been "Californicated."
Let us not "scrc %v up" what beau-
ty which has rernaincd in Kona:
Say no to the Alil Highway project.
