Dear Mr. Arakaki,
This letter is in response to the Alii Highway advertisement that former
Councilman Joe Reynolds placed in the Sunday, January 31, issue of West
Hawaii Today.
In his add he asks that we not be a part of the silent majority but to write to you
and express our view point regarding the Alii Highway project. The fact is I
believe that if the public knew all of the facts concerning this project that it would
have been rejected by the public long before the county had spent so much time
and money on it for the benefit of a few powerful developers and land owners.
We do need roads and road improvements in Kona. What we do not need is a
four -lane highway to Keauhou shopping center and the Oceanside 1250 project.
Had Joe Reynolds been more interested in finding out what the people of Kona
wanted rather that telling them what they need he might still be serving the public
rather than placing adds in West Hawaii Today in an attempt to rescue this ill
conceived and poorly planned four lane highway.
Si rely,
dward Gerval5
