Dear County Council Members: CC', "C
We are writing to urge you to please pass either the Bond Float Bill
#209 or Fuel Tax Ordinance #340. It is r understanding that passage of
either of these bills will help with the funcairtg for Kaumana Drive roadway
improvements. Of particular interest to us is the proposed chip sealing
safety coating and /or other appropriate ew.tety improvments to Kaumana
Drive in the area of telephone pole #134 Just mauka of Edita St).
There are a high number of reported accidents occuring on this turn
(9 last year and 3 so far this year), and the police have indicated that this is
the most dangerous curve on Kaumana Drive. At a recent PTA meeting at
Kaumana Elementary School, it was reported that the accidents are due
primarily to speed combined with wet roa.:i conditions. It is for that reason
that we feel that the safety coating is the `Kst alternative. We are deeply
concerned with our children's safety, as there have been numerous
crashes into our property. Although the i:mard rail the county installed has
helped a little, it's badly smashed condittifr: attests to the serious threat
future accidents hold for anyone who hapDans to be in the area. We feel
that roadway improvements that have the n done to other areas of
Kaumana Dr. will have the same accident reducing effect on the section of
roadway we are especially concerned with
In the interest of reducing the hazards in our neighborhood we again
ask you to please support the previously mentioned bills - before there is a
life lost or a lawsuit filed.
Thank you for your time and cons i', oration.
Sincerely yours,
Ryan and Aimee Kaneko
