TITLE: NOMINATIONS OF PETER J.K. DAHLBERG TO KAILUA VILLAGE
DESIGN COMMISSION
EXPLANATION: Communication dated June 25, 2014, from Mayor William P. Kenoi,
submitting for the Council's review and confirmation of Mr. Dahlberg's
nomination. Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Ms. Charmaine
Shigemura, introduced nominee.
A lifelong resident of Hawai`i, Mr. Dahlberg is a self-employed
Civil/Geotechnical Engineer, the regional director of MATHCOUNTS, a
member of ASCE and NSPE, and a member and past president of HSPE.
Mr. Dahlberg states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to end on December 31, 2016.
Mr. Dahlberg appeared in front of your Committee with no statement to
offer. Council Member Ford expressed concerns of all Mayor's nominees
and will not be supporting nominees. Council Member Kanuha shared the
importance to have experienced designers on this commission due to items
nominees would be looking at if appointed. Council Member Kanuha also
shared the importance of having a cultural balance in our Boards and
Commissions.
Your Committee agreed that Mr. Dahlberg is not required to appear at
final confirmation before the full Council.
RECOMMENDATION: Confirmation of the appointments of Peter J. K. Dahlberg to the Kailua
Village Design Commission.
