TITLE: NOMINATIONS OF ZON M. SULLENBERGER TO KAILUA
VILLAGE DESIGN COMMISSION
EXPLANATION: Communication dated June 25, 2014, from Mayor William P. Kenoi,
submitting for the Council's review and confirmation of Mr.
Sullenberger's nomination. Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Ms.
Charmaine Shigemura, introduced nominee.
A 13-year resident of Hawai`i, Mr. Sullenger is the Residential Project
Manager of Kohanaiki Shores, LLC; a member of the American Institute
of Architects, the former president of Big Island Section of the Honolulu
Chapter of AIA, and the former Big Island Representative to the Board of
Directors of the Honolulu Chapter of AIA. Mr. Sullenberger states that he
is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term
to expire on December 31, 2014.
Mr. Sullenberger appeared in front of your Committee with no statement
to offer. For future reference, Council Member Kanuha expressed that
allowing nominees to make statements to the Council, as well as having
supporters in attendance helps support the written background provided to
the Council prior to meeting nominees.
Your Committee agreed that Mr. Sullenberger is not required to appear at
final confirmation before the full Council.
RECOMMENDATION: Confirmation of the appointments of Zon M. Sullenberger to the Kailua
Village Design Commission.
