Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution
No . 521-92, reports as follows :
The purpose of Resolution No. 521-92 is to support any action by the
State of Hawaii to provide monies to the Family Court of the Third
Circuit for a divorce seminar for parents and minor children involved
in the divorce process .
The Committee understands that children from single parent households
are much more likely to appear as law violators in juvenile court and
divorced parents can prevent some of the difficulties if they receive
basic information during the divorce proceedings and staying involved
as parents .
The Committee further understands that Oahu and Maui now conduct
these programs with success and require all parents and children
ages six (6) through eighteen (18) to go through this program as part
of the divorce process .
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose of
Resolution No. 521-92 and recommends its adoption.
