Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 658 , reports
as follows :
The purpose of Bill 658 is to amend Ordinance 92-73 , the Operating
Budget for Fiscal Year ending June 30, 1993 , by increasing revenue
in the amount of $30, 000 . 00 from Fund Balance From PY-Reserved
(3609 . 08) and appropriating same to the Marijuana Eradication 1992
Miscellaneous Contract Services Account (010-201-5218 . 91-115) .
Your Committee understands that the Marijuana Eradication 1992
Miscellaneous Contract Service (010-201-5218 . 91-115) was budgeted
for $150, 000 . 00 . The actual signed contract with the Drug
Enforcement Administration of the United States Department of
Justice (DEA) is for $180, 000 . 00 .
Enclosed is a copy of a 1992 Letter of Agreement 92-40 to verify
this increase in revenue.
Your Committee further understands that the General Account Fund
Balance from PY-Reserved (3609 . 08) is a new account .
Your Committee on Finance was informed that funding for the
eradication of marijuana and other control substances comes from the
Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the State Attorney
General ' s Office (AG) .
Your Committee also expressed concerrn about the Letter of
Agreement 92-40 , Item 9 , hold harmless clause .
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 658 and recommends that it pass first reading .
