HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 018 Draft 01 1998-2000 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION N0. g~' RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF ROADWAY ACCESS FROM OLD MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY TO HAWAII BELT ROAD AT PAPAALOA, TAX MAP KEY NO. (3) 3-5-003 (POR.). WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii acquired a new access (see attached map) to the Hawaii Belt Road from the Old Mamalahoa Highway at Papaaloa (portion of TMK No. 3-5-003) from Hamakua Housing Corporation in Resolution 415-96; and WHEREAS, this access was sought by the County to provide a better and safer access to the Hawaii Belt Road; and WHEREAS, the old access is approximately a quarter of a mile from the new access; and WHEREAS, closure shall be accomplished by barricading the intersection of the Old Mamalahoa Highway at the Hawaii Belt Road and leaving the rest of the Old Mamalahoa Highway open; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 264-1, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), all County roads continue until closed by resolution of the Council. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that pursuant to section 264-1, HRS, the old access road from Mamalahoa Highway to the Hawaii Belt Road as depicted on the attached map is hereby closed to all traffic. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Public Works is authorized to close the road by means of barricading the road at its intersection with the Hawaii Belt Highway. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Chief Engineer of the County of Hawaii.
