Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 607, reports
as follows :
The purpose of Bill 607 is to amend Ordinance No . 91-51, the Capital
Improvement Budget for fiscal year 1991-92, by adding the following
project :
PUBLIC WORKS
Iwalani Street Resurfacing - Federal $167, 994
(110-399-5391. 57-115)
Comm. No. 3571, from Finance Director William Takaba, dated
March 27, 1992, submits Bill 607 to amend Ordinance 91-51, Relating
to Public Improvements and Financing Thereof , by adding the Iwalani
Street Resurfacing Project . $167, 994 for this project shall be
provided from a Federal grant . Comm. No . 3571 transmits
departmental justification for review.
Your Committee questioned Chief Engineer Bruce McClure as to why
this road qualifies for Federal funding and what other streets
qualify so planning can be done in order to use these funds . Your
Committee learned that there is a map of the road systems of the
island on which Iwalani Street and Akolea Road are designated as
major arterials in the urban system and qualify for Federal funding .
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 607 and recommends that it pass first reading .
