Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication
No . 3500, reports as follows :
The purpose of Communication No . 3500 is to suggest the creation of
a Grants Coordinator position.
Communication No . 3500, from Councilwomen Helene H. Hale and
Merle K. Lai , dated March 30, 1992, suggest that the County create a
Grants Coordinator position in the Finance Department . The Grant
Coordinator is to go after federal funds .
Your Committee learned from Councilwoman Merle Lai that she wants
the County to hire a grant writing person who will write grants for
the whole County as opposed to writing for one department . Finance
Committee Chair Hale stated that Corporation Counsel has the Westlaw
Computer System which is a listing of all available Federal Grants .
Your Committee on Finance recommends that Communication 3500 be
referred to the Committee of the Whole, Budget .
