Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution
No . 427-92, reports as follows :
The purpose of Resolution No . 427 -92 is to create eight (8) Police
Dispatcher II positions .
Communication No . 3420, from Finance Director William Takaba, dated
March 13 , 1992, transmits Resolution 427 to authorize the Police
Department to create eight (8) Police Dispatcher II positions and to
transfer $48,480 from the Contingency Account into the Regular
Salaries and Wages Account of the Police Department . He states that
although these positions have been requested in the proposed
FY 1992-93 budget, the Police Department would like to hire right
away to enable those hired to be properly trained when the
E-911 emergency telephone system is implemented in September 1992 .
Departmental request for Council Action, position information,
position description, and personnel organization chart are
transmitted for review.
Your Committee is committed to E911 and believes it is a priority.
Also, the Committee questions the need to combine the dispatch areas
of Fire and Police. With the addition of these eight positions, the
Mayor ' s budget request will decrease from 59 positions to
51 positions .
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of Resolution
No . 427-92 and recommends its adoption.
