Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication
No .` 3195, reports as follows :
The purpose of Communication No. 3195 is to recommend the
appointment of the following to the Liquor Control Adjudication
Board:
Ms . Ruth L. Medeiros, a democrat from Kona, to fill the vacancy of
Mr . Richard K. Koneck, for a term ending December 31, 1996 .
Ms . Medeiros is a special education and science teacher at Konawaena
High and Intermediate School . She is presently chairwoman of the
League of Women Voters in West Hawaii ; member of the Kona Outdoor
Circle; member of Hawaii State Teachers Association; and volunteer
with the Ironman Triathlon.
Your Committee learned that the appointee is not an employee of the
County of Hawaii and advised the appointee of individual
responsibility to attend each session of the Board and to arrive on
time.
Pursuant to Section 7-3 .3 of the Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor
shall appoint members to the Board to be confirmed by Council, as
prescribed in Section 13-4 of the Hawaii County Charter .
Your Committee on Finance recommends approval of the appointment of
Ruth L. Medeiros to the Liquor Control Adjudication Board for a term
ending December 31, 1996 .
