Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication
No . 3192, reports as follows :
The purpose of Communication No . 3192 is to recommend the
appointment of the following to the Fire Board of Appeals :
Mr . Joseph "Butch" Gomes, a republican from Waikoloa, to fill the
vacancy of Mrs . Rhea R. L. Nakaya, for a term ending December 31,
1996 . Mr . Gomes is manager of Gomes Ranch.
Pursuant to Section 26-3 of the Hawaii County Code, the Mayor shall
appoint members to the Commission to be confirmed by the Council as
prescribed in Section 13-4 of the Hawaii County Charter .
Your Committee advised the appointee, who is not an employee of the
County of Hawaii , of individual responsibility to attend each
session of the Board and to arrive on time. Your Committee directed
him to actively participate and vote his conscience on all issues
brought before him.
Your Committee on Finance recommends approval of the appointment of
Joseph Gomes to the Fire Board of Appeals for a term ending
December 31, 1996 .
