Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication
No. '-1178, reports as follows :
The purpose of Communication No . 3178 is to recommend the
appointment of the following to the Salary Commission:
Gail M. Walker, a democrat from Honokaa, to fill the expired term of
Alexander S. Botelho, for a term ending December 31, 1996 .
Ms . Walker is the administrator of the Hamakua Medical Center . She
served as Director of Nursing at Kapiolani Women' s and Children' s
Hospital in Honolulu and is presently a member of the Honokaa
Businessmen' s Association.
Your Committee advised the appointee, who is not currently employed
by the County of Hawaii , of her individual responsibility to attend
each session of the Commission and to arrive on time. The appointee
was advised to be cautious about spending County money for salary
increases .
Pursuant to Section 13-28 of the Hawaii County Charter the Mayor
shall appoint members to the Commission to be confirmed by the
Council, as prescribed in Section 13-4 of the Hawaii County Charter .
Your Committee on Finance recommends approval of the appointment of
Ms . Gail M. Walker to the Salary Commission for a term ending
December 31, 1996 .
