Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution
No . 396-92, reports as follows :
The purpose of Resolution No . 396-92 is to amend the Salary
Ordinance, Section 8 .09 (b) for Senior Community Service Employment
Program, Elderly Activities Division, Department of Parks and
Recreation by changing Senior Community Services Aid (both permanent
and temporary) from $4 . 25 hourly to Senior Community Services Aid
$4 . 75 hourly effective January 16, 1992 . .
Communication 3190, from Finance Director William Takaba dated
December 19, 1991, transmits resolution No . 396 and departmental
information and justification.
Since the State of Hawaii ' s minimum wage is scheduled to increase
effective April 1, 1992 and enrollees in the Senior Community
Service Employment Program Title V of the Older Americans Act are
paid an hourly wage no less than the minimum wage, so additional
funds were appropriated by the Department of Labor and Industrial
Relations to the program operators to cover the pay increase in
Fiscal Year 92 .
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of Resolution
No . 396-92 and recommends its adoption.
