Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 140, reports
as follows :
The purpose of Bill 140 is to amend Chapter 10, Article 12, Hawaii
County Code, as recommended by the Real Property Tax Board of Review.
The bill proposes to increase the amount of deposit for filing an
appeal against a real property assessment . The Tax Board of Review
determined that the present fee of $3 was inadequate to defray the
cost of conducting an appeal hearing.
The proposed filing fee will be $20 for each real property tax
appeal .
Your Committee on Finance, at its December 11, 1991 meeting,
recommended to file Bill 140 since Bill 436, amending Real Property
Taxes and Appeals, was adopted on June 5, 1991, which increased the
Appeals fee to $15 .
