Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 25, reports as
follows :
The purpose of Bill 25 is to create a new ordinance amending
Chapter 14 of the Hawaii County Code, regulating burglary and
robbery alarm systems .
Communication No . 99 , dated January 10, 1989 , from Mayor Bernard
Akana, transmits said bill .
The Finance Committee, on January 24, 1989 , referred Bill 25 to the
Police Department and Corporation Counsel to review language of the
bill .
On March 21, 1989, the Finance Committee reviewed Communication
No . 272 from Robert Cooke, President, Hawaii Burglar & Fire Alarm
Association, dated March 1, 1989 , informing it is the conclusion of
their association and its member companies that Bill 25 would not
appreciably alleviate the problem of false alarms transmitted to the
Police Department .
The Committee on Finance moved to defer Communication No . 99 with
Bill 25, and Commmunication 272, since there are reservations about
said bill from the Hawaii Burglar & Fire Alarm Association and the
Police Department .
The Committee on Financ- ecommended o ile Bill 25 .
