Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 517, reports
as follows :
Bill 517 proposes to amend Ordinance 91-50, the Operating Budget for
Fiscal Year 1991-92, by increasing revenues in General Fund
Account No . 3301 . 01, FEDERAL GRANTS - NUTRITION PROGRAM, by $40, 000,
and appropriating same to the following accounts :

Communication No . 3003 , dated October 15, 1991 from Director of
Finance, transmits said Bill No. 517 and informs Department of Parks
and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, will receive a one-year
(grant) contract to develop a nutrition education project . Source
of funds - Older Americans Act (Federal) Title III C 1 Funds .
Further states, department proposes to create a nutrition
education/counseling service for homebound elderly on prescribed
special diets . This will include developing a software program that
will generate a client driven special diet menu plan (including use
of local/ethnic foods) for a two week-period with a menu specific
shopping list .
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 517 and recommends that it pass first reading.
